Benoy officially celebrated its tenth anniversary in Singapore this week – choosing the 10th day of the 10th month to mark the occasion.
The Singapore team led by Terence Seah was joined by Benoy CEO Tom Cartledge as well as the firm’s Global and Asia Directors to celebrate the milestone. An evening reception was hosted at Straits Clan with Benoy sharing the anniversary celebrations with clients, partners and friends.
A pioneering studio
Benoy was drawn to Singapore in 2008 with the impending completion of ION Orchard. Over the last decade, Singapore has pioneered a number of ‘firsts’ for Benoy – from adding the first high-rise residential tower to Benoy’s portfolio with Orchard Residences in 2009, to delivering the first aviation terminal with Changi Airport T4 in 2017 and the first completed project in Sydney, Australia with the David Jones Elizabeth Street flagship store this year.
Now a team of 20, the studio is truly international, working across Singapore and Southeast Asia as well as the UAE, Australia, China and Papua New Guinea – taking the Benoy name to new markets around the world.
Looking to the future
As Singapore looks to what will define the next decade for the studio, the impending completion of Jewel Changi Airport perhaps best represents what Benoy has to offer. The first-of-its-kind lifestyle and leisure development at Changi Airport is the most anticipated future landmark in the city. Due to open next year, the 135,000sqm development will span ten storeys, five above ground and five basement levels, and include more than 300 retail and dining facilities alongside the world’s largest indoor waterfall and multi-storey indoor gardens.
Benoy was appointed as the Interior Designer and Retail and Aviation Facilities planner as part of the design consortium led by Moshe Safdie.
