RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) in collaboration with UKDIT (Department of Industry & Trade), recently held a roundtable in Shanghai which was hosted by Dame Barbara Woodward, British Ambassador to China.
As one of the preeminent UK design practices, Benoy was invited to participate in the event, held at the British Center in Shanghai. Yejia Zhu, Project Director, and Matthew Bibbey, Associate Director, represented Benoy attended and presented one of Benoy’s most acclaimed projects in China — Gala Avenue Westside.
Each practice shared their views on three topics: Uk-China people-to-people links in the field of architecture, major commercial projects completed by UK architecture firms in China and, challenges and opportunities.
Dame Woodward then discussed major global challenges and opportunities faced by both China and the UK, and how the industry is responding to pressing socio-economic issues such as climate change, Covid-19 and gender equality.
Each participant was given the chance to put a question of their choice to the Ambassador, followed by a conclusion highlighting key takeaways and observations.
Benoy were delighted to attend and grateful to the British Ambassador to China, Dame Barbara Woodward, who made time for this event.
