Benoy project Nottingham University Biodiscovery Institute has won ‘Commercial Development of the Year’ at the 2020 East Midlands Business Link BRICKS Awards.
The scheme, for which Benoy was Architect and Lead Designer/Consultant, is an extension and complementary new facility for the university’s Centre for Biomolecular Sciences existing departmental buildings.
Made up of a series of flexible lab and office spaces, the CBSE brings the various medical research groups together into a concentrated working space. The new lab boasts over 6,500 sqm floorspace over five storeys, with laboratory, office, collaborative working space, admin support and associated roof top plant areas. It is now a world-leading hub of interdisciplinary research excellence shaping the future of health and biotechnology.
The project was chosen due to the lasting positive research benefits that the institute will provide for the East Midlands.
