22 – 23 September 2022: The “Architectural Society of China (Shanghai) Forum and Shanghai International Festival of Architecture Culture” was officially held in Shanghai. The forum was organised by the Architectural Shanghai Society of China (Shanghai); sponsored by the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, and the Shanghai International Culture Exchange Association; and supported by the Architectural Society of China, Shanghai Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Management Committee, the Shanghai World Cities Day Coordination Centre and other units. As a member of the Shanghai Architectural Society, Benoy participated in the series of events in full force.
Director of Benoy and Head of the Shanghai Office, Pang Qin, was invited to attend the welcome dinner and awards ceremony on 22 September.
The conference was held at the PRIMUS Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao, with the theme of “Cultural Confidence, Resilience Conservation, Digital Innovation and Low-Carbon Practice” and has brought in exhibitors from nearly 40 academic institutions and development companies, local and international architectural design companies and other industry partners. The forum invited several academic leaders from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as national survey and design masters to conduct lectures. Local and international design enterprises presented their designs and discussed on resilient cities, building preservation, building digitisation, rural construction, and refined design and practice of architectural skins.
Benoy presented the company’s latest portfolio and practical experience in design thinking and showcased some of our latest innovative projects. Tang Wei, Project Director of the Shanghai branch, was presented at the booth to connect with clients and partners. She was interviewed by The Architectural Digest and The Paper on the theme of the conference and participated in the main forum activities on the theme “Upholding Cultural Confidence and Displaying the Contemporary Spirit”.
On 22 September’s Shanghai International Festival of Architecture Culture dinner party, the Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Committee, renowned scholars, developers, local and international design enterprises, and representatives of renowned local and international construction associations in the industry gathered together to celebrate the successful convening of the conference. It also served as a means to look forward to the future development direction of the Shanghai Institute of Architecture, promote the design industry and make further contributions and efforts. Benoy was awarded the title of “Academic Contribution Company of the Year” during the Architectural Society of China (Shanghai) Forum and Shanghai International Festival of Architecture Culture.
On September 23, the Forum continued its narrative discussion and exhibitions with “Resilient Cities, Digital Innovation, Renewed Conservation and Low-Carbon Practices”. Together, we explored how we can sustainably develop the cities and environments we live in and how we can tackle the new challenges facing digital transformation.
