After being selected as the winning proposal of the international competition for this site and the recent completion of the concept design stage, Benoy recently shared the progress of the Taichung High-Speed Railway Section Development Project in Taiwan.
Gregory Kovacs, Benoy’s Design Director and chief designer, together with Alien Chan, Senior Architect, attended a press conference in Taichung, Taiwan, hosted by the client, Di Yi Da International Development, and shared the design vision and the latest progress of the Taichung High-Speed Railway Section Development Project with members of the press.
According to Gregory, our goal is to create a truly sustainable development: A project that respects the environment; that is anchored in the local culture and heritage; that supports the local community. A landmark that will become a long-lasting destination within Taiwan.
We are creating a buzzing commercial center that weaves together a broad range of live-work-play programs, all interlinked with a major transportation hub.
“This is a place for everyone; a place that brings people together; a place that eases the stress of daily commute for the people of Taichung; a convenient transport hub for domestic travelers and an international destination connected to Taichung Airport.” Gregory commented.
The project is set to be the most extensive retail development in Taiwan, the only destination in Taiwan that is integrated with an international expo and convention center. The site is adjacent to Taichung International Airport and is directly connected to three railway stations. Covering a total construction area of 475,000 sqm, designed to attract tens of millions of passengers every year.
The project brings together various entertainment facilities, such as concert venues, museums, e‑sports competition venues, animation themed stores, educational parks, theatre performance venues, cinemas, and many others, catering to the different needs and experiences of tourists and locals.
