“Retailtainment” mega complex American Dream has been shortlisted for ‘RLI Most Innovative Retail & Tourism Destination’ category in the 2023 edition of the prestigious Global RLI Awards.
American Dream has a storied history with a triumphant outcome. Designed by GH+A — as known prior to Benoy’s acquisition of the North America-based company — and led by the ambitious vision of developer Triple Five Group, our designers were at the heart of the aggressive gut renovation and massive expansion of the property. As part of a broader partnership with Adamson Associates Architects and Gensler, GH+A provided masterplanning, concept, schematic design, design development, tenant design criteria and review, and environmental graphics design.
In 2012, the Triple Five Group purchased the property, originally known as the Meadowlands Xanadu — a casualty of the 2008 collapse of the financial market — and gave start to its dramatic transformation into the world-class attraction that is now American Dream. Located in the New York Metropolitan Area, the 3.0 million sq. ft. property is a state-of-the-art hybrid retail, entertainment, and food destination that rivals the grandest in its category internationally.
Commenting on the shortlist, Frank Di Niro, Design Director said: “It’s brilliant to see this project shortlisted. America Dream is the world’s first project to combine a varied a mix of shopping, entertainment, and attractions under one roof, with 45% of the GLA dedicated to retail and 55% to entertainment. The team worked tirelessly to create a sleek contemporary environment, which has attracted more than 450 retailers, amenities and dining offerings which are enhanced by the ultimate leisure experiences.”
According to a survey conducted in August 2022 by Chain Store Age, America’s leading provider of retail news and analysis, American Dream was voted 3rd nationally of the Top 10 retail center experiences — an impressive achievement considering American Dream’s recent introduction to the market.
