Benoy Celebrates Topping Out Ceremony of Alibaba’s Central China Headquarters and Industrial Complex

On 27 April 2023, a spectacular topping out ceremony was held for the main structure of the retail commercial hub of Alibaba’s Central China Headquarters and Industrial Complex project, for which Benoy is responsible for both the masterplan and architecture. 

This milestone marks an important step towards the project’s operational launch on 30 December 2024. We would like to extend our congratulations to the Benoy team, Alibaba, the client, and the various partners who contributed to the project’s success.

Alibaba’s Central China Headquarters and Industrial Complex, located in the heart of Wuhan’s Inner Ring Road, is a future-proof urban space that enriches the human experience through diverse workspace solutions. 

With a combined general floor area (GFA) of approximately 450,000 square metres, the project comprises two eco office towers, standing 280 metres and 190 metres in height, with a total GFA of over 210,000 square metres, and a new retail commercial hub measuring approximately 90,000 square metres. 

The development aims to transform Alibaba’s brick-and-mortar business while enhancing its presence in Central China through its hybrid digital ecosystem. Benoy’s innovative design concept of ​“AliCampus”, will provide professionals and entrepreneurs an intelligent industrial complex for work, leisure and living in Wuhan.
