Benoy takes pride in nurturing emerging architects and driving innovation in the built environment. On June 28th, we welcomed undergraduate students from Petra Christian University (PCU) in Indonesia to our Singapore Studio for an inspiring visit.
During the studio visit, Yudie Siswanto, our Senior Associate Director, and Asep Ajabar, Architect Associate Director (LEED Green Associate), shared their expertise and insights. Yudie showcased our signature portfolio, introducing our parent company, Handley House, and sister businesses. Asep delivered a lecture titled “Sustainable Architecture,” emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices, designing in harmony with the environment, and integrating biophilic elements. He highlighted the holistic approach to sustainability, considering economic, social, and environmental targets to create a human-centric environment.
Additionally, Asep discussed the growing trend of repurposing buildings for sustainability, referencing our Cross Street Redevelopment project in Singapore. This project seamlessly combines historical and contemporary elements with sustainable design practices, ensuring its ongoing sustainability despite significant changes.
The lecture sparked engaging discussions on cultural differences and the role of architects. Terence Seah, Director and Head of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shenzhen Studio, made a guest appearance during the discussion, offering a firsthand glimpse into his experience as an architect and the pivotal role to meet the needs of those who inhabit the spaces we create.
The students had the opportunity to explore our office, interact with project teams, and gain deeper insights into Benoy’s operations and design philosophies.
We are thrilled by the positive feedback and enthusiasm from the students. At Benoy, instilling a spirit of giving and inspiring students to contribute to the community is a core value. We aim to shape a brighter future for the built environment and continue inspiring the next generation through sustainable design.
