Grand Celebration Amidst the Singapore Skyline
Benoy and Uncommon Land in Singapore celebrated the grand opening of their new studio with over 40 valued clients and partners on 22nd September 2023, on the 21st floor of The Gateway Singapore, where breathtaking views of the bustling downtown core and the skyline set the stage.
The New Studio: A Monument to Design and Collaboration
The new Studio marks a significant milestone in the future of workplace design, dedicated to empowering staff with flexibility, nurturing wellness, and driving overall business productivity.
Spanning 536 sqm, the Studio’s parallelogram-shaped floor space features workstations, meeting and social spaces, acoustic pods, rest areas, and office facilities — all thoughtfully interwoven amidst lush greenery.
The grand opening ceremony was a labour of love and creativity, meticulously crafted by Benoy’s team of interior designers, architects, and landscape architects, who not only organised the celebration but also designed the new Singapore home.
A Welcoming Prelude
Upon arrival, guests were invited to share their greetings and well wishes, which were pinned up in the boardroom to create a lasting memento of this special day.
Azaria Lee, Senior Associate Director and Singapore Studio Lead, led the event as the Master of Ceremonies. Speakers included Terence Seah, Director of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shenzhen; Dawn Bingham, Group Talent Director of Handley House, traveling from the UK; and Rayvees Goh, Director of Landscape at Uncommon Land. They extended a warm welcome to everyone and gave a brief introduction to the studio’s design and the businesses’ background.
Blending Cultural Celebrations with Contemporary Festivities
The ceremony began with the ribbon-cutting, symbolising the official inauguration of the new Studio. This was followed by a captivating twin lion dance performance, paying tribute to traditional symbols of prosperity.
The celebration took on added significance with the symbolic ‘rolling of the pineapple’ (王梨, pronounced as ‘ong lai’ in Hokkien dialect). This tradition, rooted in Singaporean culture, signifies ‘good fortune to come’ and is closely linked to ushering fortune and prosperity into new homes.
Additionally, the event was graced by a special guest, Tom Cartledge, CEO of Handley House, who joined virtually to share his thoughts and warm wishes for this occasion.
Networking and Camaraderie
Benoy team members, clients, guests, and friends of the business gathered in the expansive Loft area, where they enjoyed delightful food, refreshing drinks, and each other’s company, fostering valuable connections and memorable moments.
A Token of Appreciation and Heartfelt Thanks
As a token of our appreciation for their presence, guests received a Benoy tumbler, serving as a lasting reminder of this memorable day.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us in celebrating this momentous occasion, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their commitment to innovative workplace design and client collaboration.
