Benoy Director Qin Pang attends 2024 ULI East China Summer Meeting

Benoy Director Qin Pang’s Participation

On 27 and 28 June, the Urban Land Institute held its 2024 East China Summer Meeting at the Langham Shanghai in Xintiandi. Benoy Director and Head of Shanghai Studio Qin Pang was invited to attend, participating in a panel discussion on 27 June on emerging trends in the entertainment, tourism, and hotel industries in mixed-use development projects.

The meeting covered a broad range of topics, including the fusion and preservation of traditional culture in modern urban settings, strategic planning for the Shanghai East International Business Zone, the dynamic landscape of the real estate capital market, emerging industry trends in mixed-use development projects, and the implications of the low-altitude drone flight economy on urban planning. Industry leaders and experts engaged deeply in these discussions and interacted with the audience.

Qin Pang’s Insights on Innovative Design and Cultural Heritage

During the panel discussion, Qin Pang shared insights on innovative design and Benoy’s approach to balancing innovation with preserving local cultural heritage. For a mixed-use development project to have a unique appeal, you must consider a range of factors, from the layout of the various functions to local characteristics, cultural background, and unique brand attributes,” explained Qin Pang. He cited several prominent Benoy projects, including Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, Bujairi Terrace in Riyadh, ICONSIAM in Thailand, Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore and Suzhou Center in Suzhou.

Mixed-use developments should not promote an architects personal values. To serve the needs of the public, they must be attractive, inviting and inclusive, Qin Pang emphasised.

Gathering of Industry Leaders

The panel discussion was moderated by Sylvia Su, Executive Director and Head of Capital Markets China at Cushman & Wakefield. Qin Pang was joined by Lu Zhihao, Assistant General Manager of China Property Development and Investment Services at Hongkong Land, and Sara Yang, Project Manager at Shun Tak Holdings.

The meeting brought together over 200 senior experts and decision-makers in the real estate sector, providing a platform to hold in-depth discussions on seizing opportunities in the dynamic capital markets sector and creating attractive urban spaces. Benoy would like to thank ULI for the opportunity to participate in this important event and hopes that it continues to be a valuable platform for exchanging the real estate insights.
