Challenge
As part of our extensive work in and around Battersea Power Station, we were briefed to develop the wayfinding for the new art’otel. Drawing from art deco references, we integrated our classic and refined design seamlessly into the hotel’s interior, achieving both aesthetic finesse and functional clarity.
Solution
The new art’otel is the newest of the Park Plaza boutique hotels to open next to Battersea Power Station. We were asked to develop and interpret the art’otel brand for internal and external use. We focused initially on the arrival experience, working to ensure the hotel was well signposted and drawing people in to the drop-off space designed by Foster + Partners. Developing the materiality of the brand, we incorporated anodised aluminium that integrates seamlessly with the ribbed cladding details of the building façade. Meanwhile internally, we designed a bespoke pictogram suite with a focus on gender-neutral facilities. By continuing the use of anodised aluminium, paired with the direct application of individual letters, we created a constant thread that unites the characterful Jamie Hayon interiors.
