Challenge
Located in a popular suburban shopping centre at the heart of a future major mixed-use development, the project involved transforming the vacant space of a former Sears department store into a modern and sophisticated food destination for the Greater Montreal region.
Solution
The design approach was to create a highly stylized iconic environment through upscale seating options, custom statement lighting, a strong ceiling design, and architectural features inspired from the 1960s original building.
Result
The dramatic and modern architectural qualities of the space, emphasized through unique and high-end design features, contribute to an elevated guest experience. Concrete, brass, and terrazzo tile contrasted with natural walnut create a warm and inviting atmosphere. A selection of 17 food vendors and three sit-down restaurants makes District Gourmand dining hall a food destination of choice for the Greater Montreal communities.
