Challenge
The Taichung High-Speed Railway Section Development seeks to redefine urban living in central Taiwan by integrating modern architecture with vibrant public spaces and sustainable mobility. This project aims to stimulate local employment for 16,000 people and transform Xinwuri Station into a hub for a world-class fashion department store and shopping mall. The goal is to create a sustainable, culturally rich commercial center that connects live, work, and play functions around a major transportation nexus, offering a multifaceted experience that will captivate visitors and residents alike.
Solution
Catalyzing Taichung’s Transit-Oriented Future:
Situated at Xinwuri Station, the development leverages Taichung’s extensive transportation network, ensuring quick connectivity across the region.
Inspired by Taichung’s Natural Harmony:
Drawing from the unique blend of mountains and urbanity, the design mimics natural landscapes through zones named mountain, forest, water, cloud, and valley, seamlessly integrating these elements into the urban fabric for a dynamic and cohesive environment.
Result
At the core of the 470,955 sqm complex is a world-class retail and entertainment hub featuring a five-story department store that houses shopping, global dining, and a Broadway-calibre multiplex cinema. Additional amenities include an international exhibition venue, conference centre, Grade‑A offices, and a hotel. This multifaceted destination sets a new benchmark for urban commercial and entertainment experiences.
Our expertise extends beyond architecture and masterplanning, encompassing full landscape architecture contributions in for this project.
