Challenge
The client was looking to completely redesign the motorhome they use for their European races. The space is typically used to house the commercial team including PR, marketing, and wider operations. It also needs to include casual breakout spaces where people can relax alongside more exclusive areas for VIP hosting.
Solution
The new design sits across three levels. Level 0 is an open dining/bar area that can be used by the wider team during lunch breaks. Level 1 holds the VIP dining as well as back-of-house rooms, such as offices and a single meeting room. VIP Guests are also welcomed into the motorhome where they can lounge and dine on Level 1 & 2. Level 2 includes a terrace on one side and sliding glass panels on the other side which allows the VIP guests to view the track as they enjoy a beverage. The design approach and narrative for each level are based around nature; specifically reflecting sky, land and sea. Natural tones are complimented by timber furniture, natural planting and concrete panels. Level 0 enjoys an open plan layout with light and airy decoration.
Result
The motorhome with its new design is now complete and in full operation. It will be used as the team’s main hub at European Formula 1 race meetings, and had its first outing at this month’s British Grand Prix in Silverstone.
