The Shenzhen Huaide Urban Renewal Complex needed to redevelop a dense urban village in Bao’an District, balancing high-density constraints, ecological preservation, and connectivity to the upcoming Huaide Station. It also had to address diverse resident needs by integrating residential, commercial, and recreational spaces while catering to Shenzhen’s emerging middle class.
Through a phased masterplan, the project transformed the site into a mixed-use urban hub with cultural, ecological, and functional harmony. An aerial green system connected parks and public spaces, while innovative architecture drew inspiration from Phoenix Mountain’s landscape to overcome density constraints. Rooftop greenery and fragmented designs enhanced sustainability and mitigated the urban heat island effect. Sky bridges and landscaped streets ensured seamless connectivity across the site.
The project revitalized Huaide Old Village into a vibrant, sustainable urban hub with 30% greenery coverage, improved accessibility, and diverse amenities. Now a regional landmark, it supports community growth, ecological balance, and economic vitality while serving as a dynamic space for Shenzhen’s middle class and youth.
